Our Hope

Jesus Christ

...had a mission to save us from our sins and their consequences. "For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost" (Luke 19:10).

...was executed on a cross for us. "It was the third hour when they crucified him...With a loud cry, Jesus breathed his last. The curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. And when the centurion, who stood there in front of Jesus, heard his cry and saw how he died, he said, 'Surely this man was the Son of God!'" (Mark 15:25, 37-39). "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8).

...died in order to bring us into a right relationship with God. "Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God's wrath through him! For if, when we were God's enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!" (Romans 5:9-10).

...was raised from death by God. "God has raised this Jesus to life, and we are all witnesses of the fact" (Acts 2:32).

...returned to heaven. "While he was blessing them, he left them and was taken up into heaven" (Luke 24:51).

...will return for the ultimate salvation of his followers. "Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him" (Hebrews 9:27-28).
